Garbage Collection
Schedule: Garbage is collected weekly on Thursdays. Please place your bins at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the day before collection and remove them by midnight on the day of pickup.
Preparation: Ensure all waste is securely bagged to prevent spillage.
Recycling Collection
- Schedule: Recycling is collected bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Similar to garbage collection, bins should be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the day before and removed by midnight on the day of pickup.
Accepted Materials:
- Paper Products: Newspapers, magazines, envelopes, flyers, and cardboard (e.g., cereal boxes).
- Plastics: Rigid plastics like detergent containers and peanut butter jars.
- Metals: Steel containers such as soup cans, pet food cans and cookie tins.
Non-Accepted Materials:
- Plastic bags
- Glass
- Wood
- Styrofoam
- Hazardous Materials
- Yard Waste
- Food Waste
Please ensure only eligible items are placed in your blue recycling bins to prevent contamination.
Adhering to the bin placement and removal times helps minimize the chance of bins being damaged and aids in snow removal.
Additional Recycling Options
Starting December 1, 2024, residents can recycle flexible plastics, foam packaging, and non-deposit glass bottles and jars at all SARCAN depots. To find the nearest depot, visit SK Recycles’ depot locator skrecycles.ca
Recollect Notification System
- Sign up for Recollect, an online system that sends notifications and reminders for waste and recycling pickup.
- Visit Recollect Notifications to enter your street address and choose your preferred notification method.
- Make sure to enable “service alerts” to receive real-time updates on pickup delays or changes.
